This is a project I did with my Drawing and Painting 1 students. We spent a week and a half on basic color theory and practicing with mixing acrylic paints. Students painted a color wheel worksheet with each hue – primary, secondary, tertiary and a tint and shade of each. Then students got heavy weight paper with 12 pie slices ( that I made in illustrator and printed on the cardstock using my school inkjet printer). Students cut out the slices and could alter them as much as they wanted in terms of shape. Each pie slice had to display the hue, tint and shade and the overall design had to display a theme. The final pie slices were glued on to poster board and displayed. The project took about 2 and a half weeks to complete.
